In a collaboration with the stone expert Lapicida, Lara Bohinc creates the Half Moon Dining Table. A masterpiece with discs enhancing planetary forms. With its bisected shape and colors, it’s created a surface of patterns and dynamic bases and tops. The Lunar Collection echoes a sense of being in another galaxy, a sense of movement and dimension.
The juxtapositioning of Persian Gold, Verde Guatemala, Red Wine, Black, and Gold are inspired by Venice historical buildings. A city of Classic and Renaissance art, where the marble inlay is a decorative statement for centuries, is combined with planetary movements and dynamics. Comprising sumptuous marbles with gold or brass metal work and the art of contrasting stones into a perfect whole, this masterpiece defines Lara’s own design vocabulary.
Using ancient stone marquetry techniques like Pietra Dura and Opus Sectile, Half Moon Dining Table contemporary design involves both states of the art CNC manufacturing and countless hours of painstaking hand-finishing. The Half Moon Dining Table took over 100 hours’ to be created by the craftsmen.
The piece is composed by hexagonal bowls that can be laid together forming a honeycomb formation, either in the same color or in different color combinations. The colors are perfectly combined together to make an aesthetic of universe dynamic, cosmo’s colors, Venice architecture and planets’ movements. They are available in three colors of marble: White, black and green.
