The designers Kram/Weisshaar have created an amazing modern dining table design, which is a razor-thin table embedded with hidden circuitry so you can cook dinner and keep plates warm and drinks cold while you dine. The perfect dining table for a creative and luxury dining room area. All your guests will be astonished by this brilliant product design.
At the first glimpse, it looks like a normal dining table. However, as you already know, it’s so much more than that. This is the SmartSlab table.
Induction rings in each SmartSlab table allow the ceramic top to act as a hob for cooking, while plate-sized heating elements ensure served food stays at an optimum temperature.
The tables feature tops made of SapienStone – an advanced, architectural-scale ceramic tile measuring three metres by 1.5 metres, but which is just six millimetres thick.
Warming elements are placed in front of each seat for plates, while cooling elements in the centre keep drinks cold. “It’s really simple and it keeps the food hot,” said Clemens Weisshaar of the Swedish/German design studio. “You need 42.5 degrees Celsius, not more not less. You can put your hand on it and it won’t burn you.”
The project began when the manufacturer asked Kram/Weisshaar to explore potential new uses for their enormous tiles, which are made on state-of-the-art production lines in Modena, Italy, and which are sold as architectural surfacing materials. The result is SapienStone SmartSlab – a composite surfacing material that has the potential to end the traditional separation between construction materials and electrics in buildings.
